Greatness Knows No Boundaries- Barcelona Dismantle Real Madrid

Greatness is a road leading towards the unknown- Charles de Gaulle

Indeed the path that this Barcelona team is marching on knows no boundaries. The sun as well as the sky is the limit. Once more Pep Guardiola's supreme outfit outclassed an exceptionally motivated and talented Real Madrid. Undoubtedly a most enthralling race for the La Liga title will take place over the coming months. Certainly it would be foolish to write off any Jose Mourinho side, particularly in their second season under the "Special One", but Barcelona's victory at the weekend epitomised every  sensational aspect of this amazing side.

Of course their most obvious trait is the manner in which they are able to keep the ball and make the killer move when it matters most. Their technical ability is simply mesmeric as they toy with their various opposition like a lion surveying a gazelle alone in the wild.

However most of all great champions are never truly appreciated as much for digging in and grinding out tough results. This Barcelona side has guts, courage, and determination in spades, every bit as much as they have class and talent.

On Saturday night Real attacked Barcelona akin to a pack of crazed wolves seeking blood. With a goal in the first minute other sides would have been forgiven for eventually relenting and throwing in the towel to another imperious team.

However this is no ordinary team. Indeed they slowly but surely weathered the Real storm and got back into the rhythm of their passing game. The ebb and flow of their possession football was a joy to behold as they began to wear down the opposition.

The equalizer summed up everything about Barcelona's play. The mercurial Lionel Messi, undoubtedly the best player on the planet by a distance, battled through a number of tackles before releasing Alexis Sanchez whose finish was equally delicious.

Try as they might Real just couldn't cope with Barcelona's play. Yes if Real's talisman if somewhat erratic Cristiano Ronaldo had put away at least one straight forward opportunity it could have been a different game, but perhaps that only goes to portray Barcelona's ultimate ruthlessness. Great teams don't let opportunities like that slip. Ronaldo glaringly missed a simple header at goal, Cesc Fabregas showed no such mercy at the other end.

Sometimes those are the margins between great and very good though. Of course Real could still go on to win the league. However Barcelona must do everything possible to keep the inspirational Pep Guardiola who has hinted at leaving in the near future. He has moulded a team for the ages and with the help of the unstoppable trio of Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Messi alongside the rejuvenated Fabregas, the number of trophies Barcelona continue to amass will certainly remains limitless.
